At InfoWorld, we like to venture beyond conventional Web publishing. Two
years ago we launched Windows Sentinel, a downloadable agent to monitor Windows
system performance remotely, which now has more than 20,000 users. In May we
began offering "house brand" whitepapers called Deep Dives on such topics as
mobile technology, cloud computing, Windows 7, and virtualization. And this fall
we introduced "boot camps" -- e-mail courses on enterprise security, Windows 7
migration, and more.
Now we're releasing our first iGuide, a graphical repository of downloadable
PDFs and webcasts on the enterprise data explosion, which we see as the most
important issue affecting IT. No doubt you've heard the IDC pronouncement that
enterprise data doubles every 18 months. We think the challenges of storing and
managing this roaring torrent of bits have entered a critical phase and deserve
special coverage.
[ Have a look at InfoWorld's new iGuide to the enterprise data explosion. We'll
be adding content all the time, so keep checking back for updates. While you're
at it, check out the complete collection of InfoWorld apps and services. ]
The Flash for the enterprise data explosion iGuide was created by Ben Barbante,
former creative director for InfoWorld, who now runs his own design business.
The idea from the start was to create a simplified topographic view of typical
data flows and segment it into key solution areas: primary storage, backup and
deduplication, log monitoring and analysis, enterprise data protection, and
cloud computing. Click into any one of these areas to see the available
information assets.
